Lose Ends

Take a moment to read the ingredients label when you’re shopping for products. A little more or less of this or that can really improve the quality of life for processed hair. For colored hair avoid products containing mineral oil or silicone at the top of the ingredients list-these can strip color. For permed hair look for ammonium rather than sodium cleansers and for shampoos with keratin or wheat amino acids which strengthen the hair fiber. Silicones and dimethicone will make combing easier. Avoid polyquaternium or resin listed in the first few ingredients. These can weigh down hair. For brittle, heat-damaged hair look for shampoos with added moisturizers like glycerine, butylenes glycol, extracts of kukui, chamomile, or jojoba and betaine-based cleansers.
