Plastic Bins

I call these tubs and my husband thinks that's funny-so plastic bins it is. If you anticipating moving a lot getting plastic bins can save you a lot of time, money, and trash. Whether you're in the military are in college or you're married to a nomad, getting plastic bins is the way to go. They come in many sizes (the small ones are great for those that can't lift a lot of weight) and are very durable. They last an indefinite amount of moves. We bought plastic bins for our first move and I'm so glad we did. Boxes can be very expensive and are a lot of waste to trash or recycle at the end of a move. Also, bins don't collapse. If you don't want to fill it all the way to the top you don't have to. They are also water proof and rodent proof. Moths can't destroy anything inside either. This can be very handy if moving in a wet climate as well. Boxes quickly go from sturdy to wobbly in a rain storm (yep- I've moved in one of those too). They can be used for storage too once you arrive at your new place. We have extra dry food that we keep on hand and the plastic bins are just perfect for this. You can re-use them in any capacity you see fit. We have never regretted spending the extra few bucks on bins because they stretch so much farther.
